Current Application Status

Please be aware that we are not actively onboarding new Transcription, Captioning, or Subtitles freelancers at this moment. Due to high volume, the review process can take 6 months or longer.

We keep all applications active and on file until a final decision is reached. We appreciate your patience and will notify you via email as soon as your application has been formally accepted or rejected.

Interested in Freelancing

Payment Requirements

We use PayPal as our sole method of payment. To freelance with us, you must have a valid, verified PayPal account. For more details on how and when we pay, please see: Freelancer Pay and Fees.

 


 

Transcription (TC) Application Information

Variation in Application Steps

If your application process looked different from what you expected (or if you noticed sections missing compared to other applicants), please do not be concerned. We utilize multiple versions of our Transcription application to test new formats and assessments. Your application is considered complete as long as you followed the prompts provided to you specifically.

 

Timeline & Next Steps

  • Review Process: Once submitted, your application enters our review queue.

  • Wait Times: Depending on current project volume and the number of active freelancers, this can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months.

  • Notification: We will contact you via email the moment a final decision is made. There is no need to resubmit your application in the meantime.

 


 

Captions (CP) Application Information

We are not currently accepting new applications for Rev Captioning. We encourage you to check our Freelancer Opportunities Page periodically for updates, as our hiring needs change based on customer demand.

Note: If you have already submitted a Captioning application, it will remain on file, and we will contact you via email if we are able to move forward with your candidacy.

 

 


 

Subtitles (SU) Application Information

International Payment Policy

We recognize that many of our Subtitles applicants are located globally. At this time, PayPal is our only method of payment. * Mandatory Requirement: You must have a valid, verified PayPal account to receive payment for your work.

  • Global Availability: We are aware that PayPal is not available in every country. However, Rev is not currently exploring alternative payment platforms (such as Payoneer or Wise). If you cannot maintain a PayPal account in your region, you will be unable to receive payouts.

Timeline & Next Steps

  • Review Process: Once your application is submitted, it will be reviewed based on our current language needs and project availability.

  • Wait Times: This can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months. We appreciate your patience as we review high volumes of global applications.

Legal Transcription Application Information

We are excited to offer this new specialized line of service. While prior experience in transcription or the legal industry is not strictly required, it is considered a significant asset.

 

Application Components

To be successful, please pay close attention to the following three sections of the application:

  1. Grammar & Punctuation: Use standard English grammar and punctuation rules to complete this section.

  2. Style Guide & Assessment: You must review the Rev Legal Transcription Style Guide and complete the associated assessment before proceeding to the transcript.

  3. The Transcript: You will be provided with an AI-generated draft. Your task is to edit this draft to ensure it aligns with the requirements of the Legal TC Style Guide.

  • Review Process: Because Legal TC work requires high precision, our review process is thorough.

  • Wait Times: Notification of acceptance or rejection typically takes between a few weeks and a few months, depending on our current project volume.

  • Status: We keep all applications on file and will contact you via email as soon as a decision is reached.

 


 

Age and Location

Age Requirement

To freelance with Rev, you must be 18 years of age or older. This is a strict requirement for legal and payment processing purposes.

 

Location & Identification

  • Accepted Regions: You must be physically located in one of our accepted countries and possess a valid government-issued ID from an accepted country.

  • State Restrictions: Please note that due to specific regional regulations, we are currently unable to work with freelancers residing in California.

  • System Detection: Our application platform uses automated verification to determine your physical location. If the system determines you are in an unsupported region, we cannot manually override this decision.

Note: Our support team does not have information on if or when our list of accepted regions will expand. We recommend checking the link above periodically for updates.

 


 

Technical Issues & Trouble with Application Process

If you are experiencing technical difficulties while applying, please follow the troubleshooting steps below:

 

1. Browser & Hardware Requirements

  • Device: You must use a computer (laptop or desktop) with a physical keyboard. Tablets and smartphones are not supported.

  • Browser: We recommend Google Chrome (latest version) for the best experience. Opera is a reliable secondary option.

  • Audio: Please use headphones or earbuds to ensure you can hear the nuances required for the assessment.

 

2. Resuming an In-Progress Application

Our system automatically saves your progress. If you need to return to your application or if an emailed link isn't working:

  • Go directly to rev.com/freelancers.

  • Enter the exact same name and email address you used to start the process.

  • The system will recognize your details and pick up exactly where you left off.

 

3. Stuck in the Editor (Blue Bubbles)

If you see blue pop-up prompts (e.g., "Press Enter"):

  • You must perform the requested action. Sometimes you may need to do this multiple times to "trigger" the next step.

  • Try a Hard Refresh: Press Ctrl + F5 (Windows) or Shift + Command + R (Mac).

  • Clear your browser's cookies and cache and try the page again.

 

4. Service Agreement Issues

If the "Continue" box is grayed out or you can't sign the agreement:

  • Ensure your browser zoom is set to 100% or 90%.

  • Scroll all the way to the bottom of the agreement text. The button often will not activate until the system detects you have viewed the entire document.

  • If the issue persists, try switching to a different browser.

Awaiting Application Decision

When will I hear back?

Once your application is submitted, it is placed in our review queue.

  • Timeline: The review process can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months. * Factors: Decision times depend entirely on current project volume and the needs of our specific lines of service.

  • Notification: We do not have a way to provide individual status updates via email. However, we keep all applications on file and guarantee that you will receive a formal "Accepted" or "Rejected" email once a decision is made.

 

Rejection & Reapplying

We understand that receiving a rejection can be disappointing.

  • Feedback Policy: Due to the high volume of applications, we are unable to provide specific, individualized feedback on why an application was not moved forward.

  • Reapplying: If you aren't accepted this time, don't worry! You are welcome to submit a new application after a 45-day waiting period.

 


 

ID Verification

At Rev, we are committed to providing sustainable work-from-home opportunities. To attract world-class clients and ensure there is a high volume of projects available for you, we must maintain the highest standards of security and trust.

For this reason, all freelancers are required to complete a secure identity verification process before gaining access to customer files.
