Why Was My Account Deactivated?

We understand it can be confusing and frustrating to find that your account has been deactivated. This article explains our process, what you can still access, and the common reasons for deactivation.

Rev will not respond to any inquiries related to deactivated accounts.

The Deactivation Process

If your freelancer account is deactivated, you will be notified via an email from Rev. This decision is the result of a thorough review and is considered final. For this reason, you will not be able to re-apply for the same service line in the future.

Our Support team is here to help with technical and project-related questions, but they do not have access to deactivation information and are unable to reverse these decisions.

Continuing to Freelance in Other Service Lines

If you provide services in multiple areas (e.g., transcription and captioning), a deactivation in one service line does not impact your standing in another. For example, if your transcription account is deactivated, you may continue to freelance as a captioner.

Accessing Your Information

After an account is deactivated, you will still be able to log in to access your financial records and project history.

Earnings: You can view your past earnings for tax or other financial purposes at any time. This information is found by clicking on the Earnings tab.
Project History: You can see your recently completed projects and grades under the My Work tab.

Common Reasons for Deactivation

Deactivations are necessary to maintain the quality and security of our platform. Common reasons include:

Quality: The account did not consistently meet the quality standards required by our customers.
Underage User: Per our Terms of Service, all freelancers must be at least 18 years of age. If your account was deactivated for this reason, you are welcome to reapply once you turn 18.
ID and Location Requirements: Freelancers must be physically located in and have official identification from one of our approved locations to provide transcription or captioning services. You can find the current list of approved locations in this article.
